  6. WinMerge will merge several ASCII-text or Windows Write WRI files into 
  7. one ASCII file. It is straightforward, easy to use and fast. Except 
  8. normal text files you can also merge BBS index files found on some 
  9. CDROMs and get a good index.

  12. INSTALLATION
  13.  
  14. WinMerge doesn't need any installation, just copy all files into 
  15. a directory and execute WINMERGE.EXE. Of course you may install a new 
  16. icon into the Program Manager. WinMerge requires Windows 3.1 and 
  17. a 386 computer or better.

  28. WinMerge is a Shareware program. You may use WinMerge on a thirty 
  29. (30) day trial basis only. If you use WinMerge past the 30 day 
  30. evaluation period you are required to purchase it. The registration 
  31. fee is only 10.00 US Dollars. You can send equivalent amount of 
  32. money in any freely exchangeable currency. Please don't send money 
  33. orders or checks. Registration includes your personal copy of the 
  34. latest WinMerge without the reminder screens.

  47. Look also for WinSplit 1.0 (WSPLIT10.ZIP). It will split large 
  48. files into many small files, so you can transfer them to disks. 
  49. It can of cource join them back again. Now you can register both, 
  50. WinMerge and WinSplit, for a special price of 15.00 US Dollars.

  53. HOW TO USE
  54.  
  55. The main window consist of two list boxes and five buttons. The 
  56. left list shows the directory of the disk. The right hand list shows 
  57. the selected files for merging. 
  58.  
  59. - To add new file to the selections list, single mouse click over 
  60.   the name in the directory, then press the ADD button or just double 
  61.   click over the name. 
  62.  
  63. - Files will be merged in that order they appear in the selections list. 
  64.  Using the INSERT button you can add a new text between previously 
  65.  selected items. First highlight one file in the directory with single 
  66.  click, then highlight a file in the selections box and press the INSERT 
  67.  button. The new file will be added before the highlighted file.

  69. - With VIEW button you can look at the beginning of the highlighted file 
  70.   in directory.
  71.  
  72. - With the selector below the directory you can change the filter for 
  73.   the file extensions.
  74.   NOTE - When you merge WRI files, they will be converted to ASCII text. 
  75.   All font styles and other text formatting will be lost. WinMerge can 
  76.   not remove possible existing pictures from the text, so there will be 
  77.   some garbage in place of the picture.

  79. - With REMOVE button you can remove highlighted item from the selections 
  80.   list.

  82. - MERGE button first opens the file selector, so you can type in the name 
  83.   for the output file. Then WinMerge will merge the files and clears the 
  84.   selections list.

  86. - QUIT will close the program.

  88. If you make a mistake, press wrong buttons etcetera, you will hear a beep.
